Assistant Chief Scout Executive—Development

Brad Farmer’s Scouting career began in 1981 as district executive in Wood River, Illinois. In 1984, he was promoted to district executive in Springfield, Illinois, and in 1987 to senior district executive in the same council. In 1987, Brad became field director in Springfield, Illinois. In 1990, he was promoted to director of field service in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1994, Brad was promoted to Scout executive, Binghamton, New York, and in 1999, Brad joined the National Council as Division Director, Cub Scout Division.

Brad served as Scout executive in Seattle, Washington, from 2004 to 2006 and as Central Region director from August 2006 to October 2009.

On Oct. 15, 2009, Brad assumed his new position as assistant Chief Scout Executive for Development at the national office in Irving, Texas. He gives leadership to the Office of Development, including the National Development Office, the BSA Foundation, the Office of Philanthropy, and the funding of the national Scout jamboree site in West Virginia. These departments are responsible for raising funds to perpetuate Scouting, being a donor concierge, and using ethical stewardship.

Brad and his wife, Diane, have two adult daughters and two grandchildren.
